NEW YORK — The Vangst team is off to a busy start this June! After a great weekend at the Lift & Co. Expo in Toronto, they jetted to the fifth annual Cannabis World Conference & Business Exposition (CWCB Expo) in New York to engage with other cannabis businesses and take part in educating about different facets of the industry.
New York kicked off the expo at the Jacob Javits Convention Center May 30 – June 2. Holding three events annually, the CWCB Expo is the only business-to-business conference on the East Coast dedicated to the legalized cannabis industry.
It aims to establish connections among the vast array of the largest media, financial, and business markets within the cannabis space and provides a professional environment within which they can educate and engage with one another.
“I’m excited to partner with the CWCB Expo, which is one of the cannabis industry’s most trusted brands. The “New York State of Cannabis” panel will undoubtedly be exciting, informative and go a long way in continuing to educate people about the business of cannabis here in New York State and beyond,” Sen. Diane Savino, D-N.Y., said in a statement.
The trade show and conference provided expert guidance and the latest innovations for business growth in this evolving and highly regulated industry, according to a press release from the organization.
Participants include established and emerging businesses in the medical marijuana, legalized cannabis and industrial hemp industries.
Vangst founder and CEO Karson Humiston was among industry experts who presented in the CWCB seminar program this week, speaking on Thursday’s “Land Your Job in Cannabis” panel about job searching in the cannabis industry with LeafLink Growth Manager Claire Maloney.

Topics such as Cannabis 101, Safety & Regulations, and Banking & Finance were covered by industry leaders in science, agriculture, medicine, law and investing, among others throughout the expo.
Vangst also participated as an exhibitor in the event.
Other panel speakers included NFL star Mike James, former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld, and – a highlight of the panel – surprise celebrity guest Whoopi Goldberg, who is a dedicated cannabis advocate and entrepreneur in her own right, having created a line of medical cannabis products specifically for help women.
Talk show host and medical cannabis advocate Montel Williams was scheduled to deliver a keynote address but had to cancel at the last minute due to injury.
The CWCB Expo is produced by Leading Edge Expositions and has three total events scheduled for 2018, including an expo in LA Sept. 26-29 and Boston Oct. 17-20.
