VANGSTER OF THE WEEK
Chase Nichols had over 12 years of experience in the world of pharmacy before landing a career in the cannabis industry! He is thrilled to be able to continue helping people as a Lab Director at Green Thumb Industries (GTI)!
This North Carolina State University grad used his education in chemical engineering and biological sciences in the pharmacy field, where he spent over 12 years managing sterile and non-sterile compounding labs.
In this field, he learned how to make a variety of dosage forms including capsules, creams, nasal sprays, gels, and more. His company also specialized in creating custom prescriptions for children, adults, and animals with allergies or sensitivities to ingredients found in common products.
“Being able to help individuals on a case-by-case basis was a truly rewarding experience that I continue to enjoy in the cannabis industry,” Chase said.
In 2016, one of Chase’s close friends won a recreational cannabis license during the lottery in the state of Washington.
After realizing the level of chemistry expertise required to operate a CO2 extraction and distillation operation, they contacted Chase to help out.
He jumped at the opportunity to learn a new process and be part of a fast-growing market.
Once Chase’s expertise developed, he connected with Vangst to move forward in his cannabis career.
He now works as the Lab Director for the national cannabis cultivator, processor, and dispensary operator Green Thumb Industries (GTI)!
GTI manufactures and sells branded cannabis products including flower, concentrates, edibles, and topicals. They also own and operate a rapidly growing national chain of retail cannabis stores.
As for his role as lab director for GTI, Chase says: “I do everything but grow it.”
In the laboratory, he utilizes CO2 and hydrocarbon extraction to make the highest quality concentrates using only strain-specific, cannabis-derived terpenes. He then oversees the packaging and delivery of the products to medical dispensaries all over the state of Pennsylvania.
“I look forward to coming to work and learning something new every day,” he said. “Being one of the first cultivators in the newly legal Pennsylvania medical market allows us to stay on the cutting edge of the cannabis industry … to create the finest quality products for our patients.”
GTI has seven manufacturing facilities and licenses for 50 retail locations across seven states. It employs more than 350 people to serve hundreds of thousands of patients each year.
HIRED THROUGH VANGST
Chase had an awesome experience progressing his cannabis career through Vangst!
“Working with Vangst was a great experience,” he said. “After spending a year in Washington, I was ready to be back near my friends and family on the East Coast.”
“My recruiter contacted me weekly with updates on new lab manager positions and set me up with interviews with a dozen companies in six different east coast states before I was lucky enough to become a part of GTI in Pennsylvania,” Chase shared.
“Vangst was very professional and made my job search an enjoyable and exciting endeavor!”
